Linux

Linux server administration, configuration and troubleshooting based on systems I actually run from VPS instances and self-hosted services to homelab machines.

Linux runs most of the systems documented on Bootriven: VPS instances, homelab nodes, containers and self-hosted services. This section contains practical notes on installing, configuring and maintaining those machines.

Topics include Ubuntu and Debian, SSH access, systemd services, Nginx, networking, monitoring, backups, logs and recovery after failed updates. The articles include commands and configuration from actual setups, together with the problems encountered along the way.

Some posts cover complete server builds, while others focus on a single fault or configuration change. The common point is simple: each one comes from a system I needed to build, maintain or repair.
